TEA releases metropolitan school district consolidation study

The Texas Education Agency today released a study regarding the impact of potential school district consolidation in the state’s five largest counties: Bexar, Dallas, Harris, Tarrant and Travis. The analysis reveals creation of such mega-districts would increase costs and would not improve student performance as a result of consolidation.

The Texas Education Agency recently launched a completely redesigned website for the Texas P-20 Public Education Information Resource (TPEIR), a longitudinal data warehouse that links students from pre-K through enrollment and graduation from Texas colleges (P-20).

Commissioner of Education Michael Williams announced today that the Texas high school on-time graduation rate has set another all-time high, reaching 88 percent for the Class of 2013.
